Rope Burn is a group dedicated to creating a safe space for those interested in learning the art of rope restraint, every 2nd Thursday of the month! It's not a workshop-- We want to help people create connections and grow the queer rope community through sharing our knowledge and skills! We want this group to be a fun, sex-positive, relaxed, and informational space, open to all skill levels and sizes.

Why does this exist?
Our goal is to create more opportunities for male-of-center participants to explore rope together, both as people who tie and those who are tied. Visibility for this group within the shibari/kinbaku world has historically been limited, particularly for those taking on more vulnerable roles. Rope Burn is one space designed for men who work with men to connect, learn, practice, and share their skills in a supportive environment.

We provide room for exploration, whether that means practicing new techniques, connecting with others, or deepening into more advanced forms of kinbaku. While Rope Burn welcomes participants of all backgrounds, our emphasis is on cultivating a men-centered community. The Bay Area already offers excellent gatherings that center women, such as Hitchin’ Bitches, and we are glad to complement that broader landscape.
Monthly Events
Dress Code
We are an open and body-positive space where you can choose the level of dress that feels right for you. Whether you prefer to stay fully clothed or bare a little more, all expressions are welcome.
What to bring?
Rope, safety shears, yourself, and your friends!
Cost
We work on a sliding-scale ticket price, with a suggested donation of $25. This money helps us pay for the space and for the organizers' time so we can continue hosting a rich set of events for the community.
Skill level
This event is open to all male-identified, non-binary, and gender non-conforming persons regardles of skill level. Most of our participants are complete beginners and we're here to support everyone!
